“Next Green Wave, whose new local facility has been constructed by Matt Machado Construction, is planning on opening its cannabis production center in the near future. Preparing to do so, the company held a job fair on Monday, October 29 at Coalinga City Hall. Applicants from all over the San Joaquin showed up for the job opportunity with one individual traveling from Arizona to do so. All applicants went through an interview process.
At last notice, seven had already been culled to receive a complete background check in preparation for imminent hiring. Five of those were completed today.
Several people were involved with the company’s selection of Coalinga for its newest facility. Nathan Vosburg, Mayor of Coalinga, watched the influx of applicants, beaming with the certainty that this long awaited process was finally reaching its next step. “I want to thank next green wave for bringing much needed jobs and opportunity to coalinga,” said Vosburg speaking as a private citizen. “And thanks to all that attended.” Although not all Coalinga residents have approved of the new industry of cannabis coming to Coalinga, many residents have been employed to work in various facets of the industry. At least 175 applicants turned up for the job fair, many applicants seemed lost in thoughts while others talked quietly with those around them. Some were excited about the prospect of working for a larger company with more opportunity after working for small concerns in the valley. The company hopes to be in production by the end of December. “Next Green Wave has two sites totaling 85,000 square feet that have been permitted for medicinal and recreational marijuana operations in Coalinga, CA. Build-outs have commenced, and Facility A completion is scheduled for late Fall 2018. Two additional sites have recently been acquired and are in license application phase which will increase our capacity significantly to 350,000+ square feet. “Next Green Wave has been awarded Conditional Use Permits (“CUP”) for indoor cultivation, nursery, manufacturing and extraction, and distribution, making it a completely vertically integrated operation from seed to consumer. “With the state of California having commenced recreational sales on January 1st, 2018, it is poised to become the largest cannabis market in North America. Next Green Wave is well positioned to become a key producer in a market that is expected to grow to US$6.5B in sales by 2020.” (nextgreenwave. com) Coalinga City manager, Marissa Trejo, also watched the process with a smile. “I was pleased with the turnout at the job fair,” said Trejo. “I saw a lot of familiar faces and also met a few new people. The Next Green Wave group has been so easy to work with and I am sure they will be a great addition to the community. They are interested in hiring local people and they have been supportive of community events such as National Night Out. I am glad they chose to make Coalinga their home.”
